You have an employee who’s highly skilled and one of the best in their field. Trouble is, they’re also extremely abrasive, don’t work well with others, and are creating chaos in the workplace.

Sometimes there’s a customer that’s so difficult that even your most patient employee can barely deal with them. However, if you have an employee who seems to regularly challenge and quarrel with customers at every turn, you have to get rid of them. It’s much less expensive to hire a new worker than it is to attract new customers.
#2. The ones who don’t keep commitments.
If an employee misses one overly ambitious deadline, then you don’t necessarily need to paint them as unreliable. But if they regularly overpromise and underdeliver, then you’ve got a problem. They may be really bad at estimating how long projects will take, or they may simply not care about meeting the commitments they set. Not good either way.
#3. The ones who act entitled.
Some employees are simply too thin-skinned or defensive to be productive team members. Or they want all the perks that come with the job, but they don’t necessarily want to do the work required in order to earn them. Again, this personality is not going to add a lot of value to the team.
#4. The ones who break the rules.
Whoever said “rules were made to be broken” probably didn’t last very long at their company. There’s a reason there are rules and regulations at your company and when you have an employee who regularly doesn’t follow them, then they need to be reprimanded…or worse, let go.
#5. The ones who can’t do their jobs.
They looked great on paper, but once hired, they simply couldn’t deliver. If this sounds familiar, don’t give this employee too many chances. You’ll waste time and grow frustrated in the process. It’s easier to just bid them good-bye.
