Tips and Tricks to Be More Productive at Work

Tips and Tricks to Be More Productive at Work | Future Force Personnel

It’s supposed to be the most wonderful time of the year. Yet, it can often feel like the most stressful. If you’re in over your head and looking for a way to stay on top of tasks, while keeping your work-life balance in check, here are some tips to help.

How Could You Be More Productive at Work?

Make a to-do list.

It sounds too simple. However, when you have a solid to-do list in place, it can help you be more productive. Creating a good one requires that you prioritize the order of your tasks. This not only helps you place your focus where it’s needed but reduces stress at the same time. When you can see your to-do’s on paper, they don’t seem quite so daunting.

Batch tasks.

If you have several tasks that are similar, batch them together so you’re tackling them in the same time and space. You’ll be in the right mindset, using the same part of your brain, making it easier to get the work done. One strategy to implement this is called “time blocking,” where you set certain hours for certain tasks, such as 8:30 – 9 am to check and respond to emails.

Know when you work best.

It’s natural to feel more productive at certain times of the day. It’s different for everyone, whether morning, evening, or late into the night. To be more productive, pay attention to when you’re “in the zone.” Then schedule your more time- and energy-intensive tasks during these hours. Focus on lighter, simpler tasks during the times of the day when you’re less energetic.

Cut out distractions and multitasking.

Multi-tasking does not make you more productive. In fact, studies show it makes you less. So cut out trying to talk on the phone while answering emails and making your to-do list. Instead, focus on one task at a time and also work to proactively prevent interruptions. This might require you to turn off notifications on your computer and other devices, put on headphones, or close the door to your office.

Keep up with healthy habits.

To be productive at work, you need to feel good, physically and mentally. To do this, invest the effort to start and maintain healthy habits in your life, from eating nutritious meals to exercising, drinking more water, and getting enough sleep. Taking breaks throughout the day is another healthy habit that help you be more productive. You’ll feel better and get more done.
